Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Meats
- In a skillet, fry the 4 to 6 slices bacon until crispy. Remove, drain on paper towels, crumble into pieces, and set aside.
- In the same skillet, brown the 1 lb hamburger with the 1/2 cup onion until the meat is fully cooked and the onion is translucent and tender.
Step 2: Combine and Cook
- In a large bowl, mix the browned hamburger and onion with the 1 can butter beans, 1 can pinto beans, 1 can pork & beans, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup ketchup, 2 tbsp vinegar, 1 to 2 tbsp mustard, and 1 tsp salt until thoroughly combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish or a crockpot.
- Top the mixture evenly with the fried bacon pieces.
- To bake: Cook uncovered in a preheated oven at 300°F for 2 hours until bubbling and caramelized. To slow cook: Cover and cook on low ‘all day’ in a crockpot.
