Instructions

Step 1: Cooking the Syrup

  1. Combine 2 c. sugar, 1 c. water, 1/4 tsp. salt, 2 squares (2 oz) unsweetened chocolate, and 2 tbsp. light corn syrup in a saucepan.
  2. Place over slow heat and stir until dissolved.
  3. Cook until a little syrup dropped in cold water forms a soft ball.

Step 2: Finishing and Spreading

  1. Add 2 tbsp. butter and 1 tsp. vanilla.
  2. Beat until thick and creamy.
  3. Spread on cooled cake.
