Instructions

Step 1: Layering the Skillet

  1. In a big skillet, layer ingredients in the following order: First, add the 1 pound cooked, drained ground meat. Sprinkle 1 small package spaghetti mix (dry) over the meat.
  2. Next, add the 1 pint carton small curd cottage cheese, followed by the 3 cups dry wide noodles.
  3. Sprinkle the 1 small package spaghetti mix (2nd package) over the noodles.
  4. Pour the 3 cups canned tomatoes with their juice over these layers, and finally, add 1 cup water.
  5. Gently poke holes through the layers so liquid gets to the bottom and prevents the meat from scorching.

Step 2: Seasoning and Simmering

  1. Sprinkle the 1 tablespoon parsley flakes and 1 tablespoon sweet basil over the top of the assembled layers.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil. Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to a simmer.
  3. Cook for 35 minutes, or until the noodles are tender and cooked through.

Step 3: Melting the Cheese

  1. Remove the skillet from the heat. Cover the entire top of the lasagna with the 1 big package grated Jack or Mozzarella cheese.
  2. Cover the skillet again and let it sit for 10 minutes until the cheese is completely melted and gooey.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: Store leftover lasagna in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave.
