Instructions
Assembly and Baking
- In a mixing bowl, blend the 1 1/2 cups sugar with 1/4 cup cornstarch and 1/4 tsp salt.
- Mix in the 1/2 cup chopped blanched almonds and 4 cups pie cherries until well combined.
- Fill a prepared pie shell with the fruit mixture and dot the top with 2 tbsp butter.
- Construct a lattice top using pastry strips, then place the pie on a cookie sheet in the lower part of the oven.
- Bake at 425°F for 30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
