Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Topping

  1. In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup flour and 3/4 cup brown sugar. Cut in the 6 tbsp chilled butter using a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs, then stir in the 1 cup instant oat flakes.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

  1. In a separate bowl, toss the 2 cups apples with 1/4 tbsp lemon juice, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 tsp cinnamon until evenly coated.

Step 3: Assemble and Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Press half of the topping mixture into the bottom of a buttered baking dish.
