Instructions

Step 1: Assemble the Base

  1. Fill a highball or Collins glass with as needed ice.

Step 2: Add Spirits and Juice

  1. Add 1.5 oz (1 shot) tequila to the glass.
  2. Fill the glass almost to the top with 4-5 oz orange juice and stir briefly until well combined and chilled.

Step 3: Create the Sunrise Effect

  1. Slowly pour the 0.75 oz (1/2 shot) grenadine over the back of a spoon or down the side of the glass until it sinks to the bottom.
  2. Do not mix; allow the grenadine to settle and create the signature layered sunrise effect until visually striking.

Step 4: Garnish and Serve

  1. Garnish with an optional orange slice and an optional cherry, if you like, and serve immediately.
