Instructions

Step 1: Brown the Meat and Aromatics

  1. In a large skillet, brown the 1 pound hamburger gently until cooked through but not too dark, stirring frequently.

Step 2: Combine and Simmer

  1. Add the as needed chopped onion to the meat, cooking until soft and translucent.
  2. Carefully drain off any excess grease from the skillet.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a pot and add 1 or 2 cans chili beans, 1 large can tomatoes, and a bunch cilantro.
  4. Season with to taste garlic, to taste salt, and to taste pepper.
  5. Simmer slowly over low heat until the flavors meld together into a rich, thick, and fragrant chili.
