Instructions
Step 1: Combine and Simmer
- In a medium saucepan, combine the 2 cups chopped plums, 1/2 cup honey, 2 tbsp minced onion, 1 tsp ground ginger, 1/4 tsp ground cloves, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1 tsp grated lemon peel, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp ground allspice.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes until the plums are completely softened and the mixture is fragrant.
Step 2: Puree and Finish
- Carefully transfer the hot mixture to a blender and puree until completely smooth.
- Return the pureed sauce to the saucepan and simmer for an additional 5 minutes until slightly thickened and glossy. Serve warm alongside ham, chicken, or lamb.
