Instructions
Preparation & Simmering
- In a medium saucepan, combine the 1 cup tomato ketchup, 2 tbsp butter, 1/4 cup molasses, 2 tbsp vinegar, 2 tbsp minced onion, 1 tsp garlic salt, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 2 tsp dry mustard, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 1/4 tsp chili pepper, and 1 dash Tabasco sauce.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally to ensure the 1/2 cup brown sugar dissolves and the 2 tbsp butter melts completely. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until the sauce has darkened slightly, thickened to a glossy consistency, and the flavors are fully married.
💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: Store in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. The flavors will deepen and meld further after sitting overnight.
