Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Paste and Vegetables

  1. Have ready a paste by combining 2 Tbsp cornstarch, 1/2 cup chicken broth, and 2 Tbsp soy sauce.
  2. Melt in a heavy saucepan 2 Tbsp butter.
  3. Add 1 cup chicken broth, 3/4 to 1 cup diced green pepper (optional), and 6 slices diced canned pineapple.
  4. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes until tender.

Step 2: Combine and Thicken

  1. Add the prepared cornstarch paste along with 1/2 cup vinegar, 3/4 cup pineapple juice, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp ginger to the peppers and pineapple mixture.
  2. Simmer, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and becomes glossy.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: Store the cooled sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days; reheat gently before serving.
