Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Base

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the 1 lb powdered sugar, 1/2 cup pecans and/or coconut, and 1 tsp vanilla. Set aside.

Step 2: Boil the Chocolate

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the 4 Tbsp cocoa, 1 stick oleo or butter, and 6 Tbsp canned milk.
  2. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

Step 3: Combine and Finish

  1. Immediately pour the boiling liquid over the powdered sugar mixture in the bowl.
  2. Beat with an electric mixer until the icing is smooth and has a glossy sheen.
  3. Pour the hot icing over the hot cake and spread quickly and evenly until it sets into a fudge-like layer.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: This icing must be prepared and poured while both the icing and the cake are hot; it is not suitable for storage before application.
