Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Dressing

  1. Mix all dressing ingredients together (early): combine 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 2 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp vinegar, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1 dash hot red pepper sauce. Shake in a jar.

Step 2: Toss Salad

  1. In a large salad bowl, combine 1/4 head iceberg lettuce, 1/4 bunch romaine, 1/4 cup sliced almonds, 2 green onions, and 1 (11 oz) can mandarin oranges. Pour dressing over remaining ingredients, toss gently until well coated, and add bacon bits if desired.
