Instructions

Step 1: Prep Greens and Bacon

  1. Wash, drain, and tear the 1 pound fresh spinach and 1 head red leaf lettuce (or iceberg lettuce), then place them in a large salad bowl.
  2. Fry the 1/4 pound bacon until crisp, drain the fat, let cool, and crumble.

Step 2: Make the Dressing

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the 1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon dry mustard, 1 teaspoon onion juice, 1/3 cup cider vinegar, and 1 cup salad oil until well combined.

Step 3: Toss and Serve

  1. Add the crumbled bacon to the salad greens.
  2. Pour the dressing over the salad greens and bacon just before serving, toss gently to combine, and serve immediately.
