Instructions

Step 1: Prepare and Divide Jello

  1. Prepare the Lime Jello according to package directions using hot and cold water. Divide the liquid Jello in half into two separate bowls.

Step 2: Create the Fruit Layer

  1. Chill one half of the Jello in the refrigerator until it is partially set to the consistency of unbeaten egg whites.
  2. Gently fold in the drained pears, maraschino cherries, and optional marshmallows.
  3. Pour the fruit mixture into a ring mold or serving dish and return to the refrigerator until firm.

Step 3: Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer

  1. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until completely smooth.
  2. Gradually beat the remaining still-liquid Lime Jello into the cream cheese until the mixture is thoroughly combined and smooth.

Step 4: Assemble and Chill

  1. Gently pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the top of the set fruit Jello layer.
  2. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight, until the entire salad is completely firm and set.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: Make this the day before serving to ensure it sets completely firm in the refrigerator.
