Instructions

Step 1: Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix the 1 lb ground beef, 1 egg, 2 tbsp chopped onion, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, and 2 tbsp chopped parsley until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into patties and dredge them in the 1/2 cup crushed corn flakes.

Step 2: Cooking

  1. Melt the 2 tbsp shortening in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Brown the patties in the 2 tbsp shortening until a deep golden crust forms.
  3. Remove the patties from the pan, prepare gravy in the drippings, then return the patties to the gravy and continue cooking until the meat is cooked through and tender.
