Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Meat Filling

  1. In a skillet, brown 1 lb. ground beef and 1 lb. hot Italian sausage together with 1 small chopped onion, salt, and pepper to taste until the meat is fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain the excess fat when cool.

Step 2: Mix and Bake the Crust

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 eggs, 2/3 cup milk, 1 cup flour, and 1/4 tsp. oregano to form a smooth batter.
  2. Grease or spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray. Pour the batter evenly into the bottom of the pan.
  3. Evenly distribute the cooked meat mixture over the batter, pressing it gently down into the batter.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 15 to 20 minutes until the crust begins to set and firm up.

Step 3: Add Toppings and Final Bake

  1. Remove the pan from the oven and spread 1 jar pizza sauce evenly over the meat mixture.
  2. Layer on any desired toppings (such as green pepper, mushrooms, or extra onions), followed by 3 1/2 oz. pepperoni.
  3. Top generously with 1 lb. shredded mozzarella cheese.
  4. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes at 375°F until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: The meat mixture can be browned and drained up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Assemble and bake just before serving for the best crust texture.
