Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Beef

  1. In a skillet, sauté 3/4 lb. ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, and ground cumin to taste.
  2. Add 1 can chili without beans to the seasoned beef and heat through until bubbling.

Step 2: Assemble and Bake

  1. Drain 1 can hominy and place half of it in the bottom of a casserole dish.
  2. Cover the hominy with half of the beef and chili mixture, then sprinkle with half of the 1 chopped onion and half of the 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
  3. Repeat the layering process once more with the remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of cheese on top.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 1/2 hour until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown around the edges.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: Can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance, covered, and stored in the refrigerator. Add 5-10 minutes to the baking time if baking directly from the fridge.
