Instructions

Step 1: Mixing and Shaping

  1. Combine the 5 lbs meat (3 lbs ham and 2 lbs pork), 4 eggs, 2 cups cracker crumbs, 1 to 1 1/2 cups milk, and chopped 1 green pepper.
  2. Work with hands until thoroughly combined, then shape into 2 ham loaves and place in loaf pans.

Step 2: Baking and Glazing

  1. Bake the 2 ham loaves covered for 1 hour at 350 degrees F.
  2. Uncover and bake for an additional 1/2 hour.
  3. Combine the 5 tbsp white vinegar with enough water to fill a measuring cup, pour over the top, and baste with it while the loaves finish baking until cooked through and golden brown.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: The loaves can be shaped ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
