Instructions

Step 1: Prep Ingredients

  1. Cut the cooked 1 large chicken into fairly small, bite-sized pieces.
  2. Cook the 4 oz egg noodles in boiling salted water until tender, then drain thoroughly.

Step 2: Make the Sauce

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the 6 tbsp butter, add the 6 tbsp flour, and stir to blend into a smooth paste.
  2. Stir in the 1 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp celery salt, Beau Monde seasoning, and marjoram.
  3. Gradually pour in the 2 cups chicken broth and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce becomes thick and smooth.

Step 3: Assemble and Bake

  1. Remove the sauce from the heat and gently stir in the 2 cups scalded heavy cream, 2 tbsp sherry wine, 1 large can mushrooms, 1/3 cup toasted slivered almonds, 3 tbsp minced parsley, the cooked 4 oz egg noodles, and the diced 1 large chicken.
  2. Pour the mixture into a buttered 2-quart casserole dish and top evenly with the 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese.
  3. Bake uncovered in a preheated 350°F oven for 35-40 minutes until bubbling hot and the cheese is melted and golden brown.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: This casserole can be assembled, covered, and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking. Add 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time if cooking straight from the refrigerator.
