Instructions

Preparation

  1. Place 2 cups cooked chicken in a deep 9-inch pie pan.
  2. Sauté 1 bunch baby onions, 1/2 cup diced celery, and 1 can whole mushrooms in a portion of the 1/4 cup butter until golden.
  3. Remove vegetables from the saucepan and spread them evenly over the 2 cups cooked chicken along with the 1 pkg frozen carrots and peas.

Sauce and Baking

  1. In the saucepan, blend 1 tbsp all-purpose flour with the remaining 1/4 cup butter, stirring until smooth.
  2. Gradually add 1 cup chicken broth and 1/3 cup cream, cooking until thickened while stirring constantly.
  3. Add 1/8 tsp marjoram and salt and pepper to taste, then pour the sauce over the chicken mixture.
  4. To bake, preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 25 minutes.
  5. Increase heat to 425°F, top with biscuits, sprinkle with poppy seeds, and bake for an additional 15 to 18 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: The assembled pie can be wrapped and frozen before baking. To serve, remove the wrap and bake as directed.
