Instructions
Step 1: Prep and Brown the Meat
- Cut the 1/2 to 3/4 pound Round Steak into two portions.
- Coat the meat thoroughly with salt and pepper and a portion of the 2 tablespoons Flour.
- In a skillet, brown the meat in hot oil until golden brown on both sides, then place the browned meat in a shallow baking dish.
Step 2: Prepare the Sauce and Braise
- Blend any remaining 2 tablespoons Flour with the pan drippings left in the skillet.
- Add the 1 (8 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, 1/4 cup chopped celery, 1/4 cup chopped carrot, 1 tablespoon chopped onion, and 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce to the skillet.
- Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils.
- Pour the hot sauce mixture evenly over the meat in the baking dish.
- Cover and bake at 325°F - 350°F for 2 hours, or until the meat is fork-tender and yields easily.
Step 3: Melt the Cheese and Serve
- Sprinkle the 2 tablespoons shredded Cheese over the tender meat.
- Return the baking dish to the oven just until the cheese melts and is bubbly.
