Instructions

Step 1: Marinate the Meat

  1. In a bowl, combine the marinade ingredients: 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup brown sugar or honey, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 2 cloves minced garlic, and 1 teaspoon grated ginger.
  2. Add the 1 pound pork or beef to the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes until the flavors penetrate.

Step 2: Deep Fry

  1. Heat a sufficient amount of oil for deep frying in a deep pot or wok to 350-375°F (175-190°C).
  2. Carefully remove the meat from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off.
  3. Deep fry the pork or beef in batches for 1-2 minutes, or until cooked through and slightly crisped. Do not overcrowd the pot.
  4. Remove the cooked meat with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Step 3: Serve

  1. Serve immediately while hot, for example, with rice and steamed vegetables.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: The meat can be marinated up to 4 hours in advance in the refrigerator before deep frying.
