Instructions
Step 1: Prep and Sauce
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish.
- Cook and drain the 8 ounces uncooked noodles according to package directions.
- In a large skillet, brown the 1 pound ground beef in 1 tablespoon fat; drain any excess grease. Stir in the 2 cans tomato sauce and heat through.
Step 2: Cheese Mixture and Assembly
- In a medium bowl, combine the 1/2 pound cottage cheese, softened 1 package cream cheese, 1/4 cup commercial sour cream, 1/3 cup minced onion, and 1 tablespoon minced green pepper. Mix well until combined.
- In the prepared casserole dish, spread half of the cooked uncooked noodles, layer with half of the meat sauce, then all of the cheese mixture. Top with the remaining uncooked noodles, and then the remaining meat sauce.
- Drizzle the 2 tablespoons melted butter over the top until evenly distributed.
Step 3: Bake
- Bake at 350°F for 45-50 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly around the edges.
