Instructions

Step 1: Mixing the Dough

  1. Cream the 2 cups brown sugar and 1 cup shortening together until smooth.
  2. Add the 2 eggs and beat well.
  3. Add dry ingredients alternately with the 1/2 cup sour milk.
  4. Stir in the 1 cup broken walnuts, 2 cups seeded raisins, and 1 cup dates.

Step 2: Baking

  1. Drop the dough by heaping teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet.
  2. Bake at 375°F for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly browned and set.
