Instructions

Preparation and Baking

  1. Cream together 2 c. sugar and 1 c. shortening in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Add 3 eggs and mix well.
  3. Stir in 1 c. sour milk.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the required amount of flour, 1 tsp. soda, 2 tsp. b. powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, and nutmeg.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gradually until a soft dough forms.
  6. Drop spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet and bake until the edges are golden brown and centers are set.
