Instructions

Step 1: Cooking the Base

  1. Mix 1 2/3 cups sugar, 1/8 tsp salt, 1 small can (5 oz) evaporated milk, and 16 large marshmallows together in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat until it reaches a full boil.
  3. Lower heat and stir continuously (boiling) for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.

Step 2: Mixing and Setting

  1. Remove from heat and immediately add 1 pkg (6 oz) semi-sweet chocolate.
  2. Stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Stir in 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 cup chopped nuts until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into an 8x8 pan.
  5. Allow to cool completely until set, then cut into squares.
