Instructions

Step 1: Cooking the Base

  1. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar, 1 tbsp Karo, 1/2 cup sour cream, and a pinch salt.
  2. Cook over medium heat, watching carefully, until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage.

Step 2: Finishing and Cooling

  1. Remove from heat and stir in 1 tbsp butter and 1/4 tsp vanilla.
  2. Beat the mixture until it becomes creamy and opaque.
  3. Fold in 2 to 2 1/2 cups nut meats.
  4. Spread the mixture onto wax paper to cool and set until firm.
