Preparation and Baking

  1. Preheat your oven to a moderate 350°F.
  2. Melt the 1/4 lb. butter directly inside a large casserole dish.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1 pinch salt, and 3/4 cup milk (all ingredients except the fruit). Beat well until smooth and thoroughly combined.
  4. Pour this batter mixture directly into the melted 1/4 lb. butter in the casserole dish. Do not stir them together.
  5. Evenly pour the 3-4 cups fruit over the top of the batter.
  6. Bake for 45 mins in the preheated 350°F oven until the crust rises to the top, turning a beautiful golden brown, and the fruit is bubbling around the edges.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: Best served warm fresh from the oven. Leftovers can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently in a 350°F oven for 10 minutes before serving.
