Instructions

Step 1: Mixing and Baking

  1. Cream together the 1/2 C. butter and 1 C. sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the 1 egg and 1 C. unsweetened applesauce along with a splash of vanella.
  3. Sift together the 2 C. flour, 1 t. soda, 1/4 t. baking powder, and spices, then gently blend into the wet mixture.
  4. Fold in the 1/2 C. nuts and 1/2 C. raisins until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour batter into a greased baking pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the top springs back lightly to the touch.
