Instructions

Preparation and Mixing

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the 1 cup shortening, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 cup granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the 2 teaspoons vanilla extract and 2 eggs.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon salt.
  5. Gradually add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  6. By hand, stir in 1/2 cup M&M candies.

Baking

  1. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  2. Press the remaining 1 cup M&M candies onto the tops of the cookies for decoration.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and fragrant. Let cool on the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
