Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a cookie sheet.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the 1 1/4 cups flour, 1 tsp ginger, 1/4 tsp cloves, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1/8 tsp salt.
- In a large mixer bowl, cream the 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 2 tbsp molasses until light and fluffy.
- Add the 1/2 egg and grated orange peel; beat well until combined.
- Gradually stir in the flour mixture until just combined, then fold in the 1/2 cup nuts by hand.
Step 2: Bake and Cool
- Drop the dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheet.
- Bake for 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned and the centers are set.
