Instructions

Step 1: Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan or a tube/Bundt pan.

Step 2: Mixing the Batter

  1. In a large bowl, mix the 1 cup Wesson oil, 2 cups sugar, and 2 eggs until well combined.
  2. Stir in the 2 teaspoons vanilla and the 3 cups grated Winesap apples.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the 3 cups flour, 2 teaspoons baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet apple mixture and stir with a spatula until just combined; the batter will be very thick.
  5. Fold in the 1 cup nuts.

Step 3: Baking

  1. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  2. Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a long wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cake cool in the pan until firm before slicing and serving.
