Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Base

  1. Prepare the 3 oz Lime Jello according to package directions and stir in 1 teaspoon oil until well combined.
  2. Pour a thin layer (1/2 to 1 inch) of the liquid Lime Jello into a mold and place in the refrigerator.

Step 2: Assemble Fruit Layer

  1. Once the mold layer is thickened but not firm, arrange the drained pear halves (cut-side up) and maraschino cherries in the mold.
  2. Return to the refrigerator until the fruit layer is set completely firm.

Step 3: Create the Mousse

  1. Allow the remaining Lime Jello in the bowl to set until very firm.
  2. Beat the firm Lime Jello with an electric mixer until it becomes light and fluffy.
  3. Add the 8 oz softened cream cheese to the whipped Lime Jello and beat until the mixture is smooth and well blended.

Step 4: Final Set

  1. Gently spoon the fluffy cream cheese mixture on top of the firm fruit layer in the mold.
  2. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight, until the entire salad is set and firm to the touch.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: This salad must be made at least 6 hours in advance, but is best when chilled overnight to ensure the mousse layer sets properly.
