Instructions
Step 1: Prepare and Mix
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease your cookie sheets.
- In a large bowl, blend the 1 cup shortening, 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp cloves, 1/4 cup buttermilk, and 2 eggs together with an electric mixer until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the 1 1/3 cups flour and 3/4 tsp baking soda.
