Instructions

Step 1: Prep and Bottom Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 9x13 inch dish thoroughly.
  2. Unroll one can of crescent rolls and press evenly into the bottom of the prepared dish, pinching the seams together to form a solid crust.

Step 2: Filling and Top Crust

  1. In a medium bowl, cream together the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spread this cream cheese mixture evenly over the bottom crust.
  3. Unroll the second can of crescent rolls and place it carefully on top, pinching the seams and sides to seal the filling completely.
  4. Lightly beat the reserved egg white and brush it evenly over the top layer.

Step 3: Bake and Ice

  1. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and fragrant.
  2. Let the dessert cool completely in the pan.
  3. For the icing, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and a few drops of vanilla until smooth.
  4. Drizzle the icing over the cooled bars and let it set completely before cutting and serving.
