Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Crust

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the ¾ cup butter, ½ cup brown sugar, and 2 cups flour. Mix with a pastry blender or your hands until a crumbly dough forms.
  3. Press this mixture firmly and evenly into an ungreased 10x15 inch jelly roll pan to form the crust.

Step 2: Bake and Top

  1. Bake for 25 minutes until the crust is set and lightly golden.
  2. Remove the pan from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the 1 package chocolate bits evenly over the hot base. Let them sit for 3-5 minutes until they appear glossy and melted.
  3. Use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate into a smooth, even layer.
  4. Sprinkle the ½ cup nuts over the melted chocolate.

Step 3: Cool and Serve

  1. While the bars are still warm, cut them into 1 ½ inch squares.
  2. Let them cool completely in the pan until firm before removing.
