Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Base

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the 1 cup shortening, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 cup honey with an electric mixer.
  3. Add the 2 eggs and mix well.

Step 2: Combine and Bake

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the 1 1/2 to 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup wheat germ, 1/2 teaspoon soda, and 4 tbsp carob powder.
  2. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and mix until just combined.
  3. By hand, stir in the 3 cups oats.
  4. Fold in your desired amounts of 1 cup raisins, 1 cup sunflower seeds, and 1 cup coconut.
  5. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned and set.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
