Instructions

Step 1: Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Generously grease and flour a large tube or Bundt pan.

Step 2: Mixing the Batter

  1. In a medium bowl, sift together the 4 cups flour, 2 teaspoons baking soda, and 2 teaspoons cardamom.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the 1 cup butter or oleo and 2 cups sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the 2 eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. On low speed, add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture in three parts, alternating with the 1½ cups sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.

Step 3: Baking and Cooling

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  2. Bake for 1 hour, or until a long wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cake cool in the pan for 5 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
