Instructions

Step 1: Mixing

  1. In large mixing bowl, dissolve 1 pkg active dry yeast in 1/4 cup hottest tap water.
  2. Add 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 cup dairy sour cream, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1 egg.
  3. Blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly.
  4. Beat 2 minutes on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
  5. Stir in remaining flour thoroughly.

Step 2: Rising and Baking

  1. Divide batter between 2 greased 1 lb coffee cans.
  2. Let rise in warm place 50 minutes. Batter will rise slightly but not double.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown. Remove immediately from pan.
