Instructions
Step 1: Make the Batter
- Separate the 6 eggs. In a large, clean bowl, begin beating the egg whites with an electric mixer until frothy.
- Add a pinch of cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the 2 ½ cups powdered sugar and beat until the meringue is stiff, glossy peaks form.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks for 5-10 minutes until they are thick and lemon-colored.
- Gently fold the beaten egg yolks into the stiff egg white mixture until just combined.
- Fold in the ½ tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp allspice, and ¼ tsp cloves until fully incorporated.
Step 2: Serve the Drink
- For each drink, place 2 heaping tablespoons of the Tom and Jerry batter into a mug.
- Add 1.5 ounces of brandy or dark rum.
- Fill the rest of the mug with hot milk, stirring constantly until the drink is smooth, frothy, and thoroughly combined.
- Garnish with a sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg and serve immediately until warm and comforting.
