Instructions
Step 1: Mix the Topping
- Preheat your broiler. In a medium bowl, combine the 1/2 pound (8 oz) grated cheddar cheese, 2 strips uncooked bacon, 5-6 green onions, 2 tablespoons cooking oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.
Step 2: Assemble and Broil
- Split the 1 package (of 6) English muffins in half and arrange the twelve halves on a broiler pan or baking sheet.
- Spread the cheese mixture evenly over each of the muffin halves, covering all the way to the edges.
- Broil about 4 inches from the heat for about 8 minutes, or until the cheese topping is bubbly and browned and the bacon is cooked through.
- Serve immediately while hot, or cut into wedges for smaller hors d’oeuvres.
💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: The cheese and bacon mixture can be made ahead of time and kept sealed in the refrigerator until ready to assemble and broil.
