Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Marinade

  1. In a saucepan, combine the 2/3 cup white vinegar, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp whole cloves, 3 sticks cinnamon, 1 tsp celery seed, and 1/2 cup water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Step 2: Marinate

  1. Place the 2 large cans asparagus (or 3 lbs cooked asparagus) in a flat oven-safe baking dish.
  2. Pour the boiling hot liquid directly over the asparagus.
  3. Cover the dish and store in the refrigerator for 24 hours to allow the flavors to fully infuse.

Step 3: Serve

  1. To serve, carefully pour off and discard the liquid.
  2. Sprinkle the marinated asparagus with grated 1 hard-boiled egg.

💡 Make-Ahead & Storage: This dish must be prepared 24 hours in advance to allow the asparagus to properly marinate. Drain the liquid just before serving.
