3/4 cupWhipping Cream
1/3 cupSugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick)Unsalted Butter
3 tablespoonsIrish Whiskey
4 ouncesCoarsely chopped Semisweet Chocolate
2 ouncesUnsweetened Chocolate
1 teaspoonVanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the cream, sugar, and butter over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until it has slightly thickened, about 4 minutes.
  3. Add the whiskey and simmer for 4 more minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  5. Add both the semisweet and unsweetened chocolates, along with the vanilla extract.
  6. Mix until the sauce is completely smooth.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Note

This sauce can be prepared one day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. To serve, rewarm it gently over low heat.
