A classic and simple “foil packet” meal, perfect for an easy dinner with minimal cleanup. This recipe makes two large, stuffed hamburger patties.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. For each packet, lay out a large sheet of aluminum foil (“silver”).
  3. Place one hamburger patty on the foil.
  4. Top the patty with half of the drained mushrooms, then one slice of cheese.
  5. Season to taste with onion salt, soy sauce, celery salt, and tarragon.
  6. Place another hamburger patty on top of the cheese.
  7. Wrap the aluminum foil tightly around the entire stack, sealing the edges.
  8. Repeat for the second packet.
  9. Place the foil packets on a baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes, or until the hamburger is cooked through.

Note

The recipe says it serves two. The instruction to “broil for 40 minutes” is likely a typo for “bake,” as broiling for that long would burn the hamburger.
