Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F.
- Sprinkle the grated Swiss cheese and diced ham into the bottom of the unbaked pie shell.
- In a bowl, beat the eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg together.
- Pour the egg mixture over the cheese and ham.
- Bake in the upper 1/3 of the oven at 450°F for 8-10 minutes.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and continue to bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the quiche is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Note
The baking instructions on the original card are listed backward. The method above (a hot start, then a lower temperature) is the standard technique for baking a quiche in an unbaked crust and will yield the best results.
