Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Stir in the cream, vanilla, and your chosen flavoring (lemon juice, orange juice, or melted chocolate).
- Gradually beat in the confectioners’ sugar until the icing is smooth and spreadable. Add more liquid if too thick, or more sugar if too thin.
- If making the lemon or orange version, stir in the grated rind.
- Beat for another minute until fluffy, then spread on a cooled cake.
Note
For the chocolate variation, use unsweetened or semi-sweet baking chocolate and ensure it has cooled to room temperature before beating it into the butter.
