Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth.

- Add the cream or milk, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the icing reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency.
- Spread on a completely cooled cake.
Note
The original recipe uses inexact measurements, calling for a “good lump of butter” and “1/4 of a cake of cream cheese.” The card also reminds the baker to “only ice the cake after it is cool.”
