Instructions (Clarified Method)

  1. In a medium bowl, cream the softened margarine with an electric mixer until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and cocoa.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the margarine, alternating with the hot water, and beating until everything is incorporated and smooth.
  4. Stir in the vanilla.
  5. Beat on high speed for a minute until the frosting is light and fluffy.

Note

This recipe makes enough frosting to cover the top and sides of a two-layer, 8-inch cake.
