MeasurementsIngredients
2 (1-pound) cansDark sweet Cherries, pitted
2 (3-ounce) pkgs.Cherry flavored Gelatin
1 CupRed Wine
As neededWater
OptionalSliced Almonds (for stuffing)
For ServingSour Cream Dressing

Instructions

  1. Drain cherries, saving the syrup.
  2. (Optional: “Very good - stuff cherries with almonds.“)
  3. Add enough water to the reserved cherry syrup to make 2 1/2 cups of liquid.
  4. Bring this liquid to a boil.
  5. Add the boiling liquid to the gelatin, stirring until the gelatin is dissolved.
  6. Add the red wine.
  7. Chill the mixture. When it is slightly thickened (like egg whites), add the cherries.
  8. Pour into a mold and chill until firm.
  9. Serve with sour cream dressing.
