Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease your cookie sheets.
- In a large bowl, blend the shortening, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, cloves, buttermilk, and eggs together with an electric mixer until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and baking soda.
- Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and beat until smooth.
- By hand, stir in the oats, nuts, and raisins.
- Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto the greased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
