1 CupShortening
1 1/2 CupsBrown Sugar, packed
2Eggs
1/4 CupButtermilk
1 1/2 CupsOats
1 CupNuts
1 CupRaisins

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease your cookie sheets.
  2. In a large bowl, blend the shortening, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, cloves, buttermilk, and eggs together with an electric mixer until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and baking soda.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and beat until smooth.
  5. By hand, stir in the oats, nuts, and raisins.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto the greased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
